Russia has been accused of using false news and propaganda to cause an uproar against Ukrainians. The Russian government has taken over several states in Ukraine and went even further to declare Donetsk and Luhansk as separate states in Ukraine while claiming that these states had requested for Russian help to be freed from oppression. Russia is using large scale military attack on Ukraine. The latest news reports on how tens of thousands of Ukrainians are fleeing to neighboring countries daily. In less than a month, there have been about 1.2 million Ukrainian refugees. There have been over 50,000 casualties since the Russian war with Ukraine began in 2014. This invasion and conflict have taken over global media as trending news all over the world. The United States warnings turned out to be true after the Russian government launched a large military invasion on Ukraine on the 24th of February 2022. Towards the end of February, USA began sending warnings claiming that Russia had plans to invade Ukraine again as witnessed by the ever-growing Russia’s military at the Ukraine-Russia border. In the year 2021, Ukraine began raising concerns after noticing that Russia was moving more troops and military equipment closer to their borders. The Russian war with Ukraine is back to making current headlines in global news as recent attacks have been made on Ukraine. This helped for a few years but no satisfactory resolution had been agreed on.
The agreement was clear on the withdrawal of heavy weapons, a fire-cease and total government control of the conflict regions within Ukraine by the Ukrainian government. Attempts have been made since 2015 to stop the violence through the Minsk Accords.
This incident led to the United States and the European union being at odds with Russia. Ukraine’s situation became an international crisis and global news after a Malaysian airlines flight was bombed within the Ukrainian airspace by a Russian built air missile resulting to the death of 298 passengers onboard. The first war between Russia and Ukraine military occurred in 2014 and transitioned quite fast into a prolonged conflict with regular fighting and skirmishes within the frontline that divides the Russian and Ukraine border in the east side. However, in March 2014, the Russian forces took over the Ukrainian regions that experienced conflict and those that were considered pro-Russian as they claimed to want to protect the Russian citizens in those regions. This led to protests against the president in Ukraine’s capital city at the end of 2013, which continually escalated and led to their president fleeing the country.

Ukrainians had seen the European Union’s free trade agreement offer as a way of expanding their trade and creating a greater economic integration. This formed the basis of the Russian war with Ukraine as the Ukraine citizens became angry at the decision made by their president, Victor Yanukovych. President Victor Yanukovych of Ukraine was a pro-Russian delegate and this made him to reject the European Union’s trade agreement. Russia further threatened Ukraine on a possibility of losing their state as well as invasion of their country in a form of intervention in case the regions in Ukraine that supported Russia asked for help. This became trending news as Russia insisted that the signing of the trade agreement would be a violation to the bilateral treaty on Russia’s strategic partnership and friendship with Ukraine. Russia through inside intel began creating separatist movements in Russia speaking regions within Ukraine. The advisor to Vladmir Putin who is the Russian president came out clearly to warn that further sanctions would be made on Ukraine if the agreement with the European Union was signed and their neutrality in the matter was not going to change even years later. They even went further to impose import restrictions on some of the Ukrainian goods.
The Russian government were so threatened by the possibility of Ukraine accepting the trade agreement. However, threats came from Russia warning the Ukraine government that it would face serious financial issues and a possible collapse if they went ahead to accept the agreement. In the year 2013, Ukraine considered a free trade agreement with the European Union. This ongoing war between Russia and pro-Russian forces on one side and Ukraine and its international supporters has been there for several years. The Russian-Ukraine war has been one of the trending news for quite a while.
